"DAW"
David was born on May 19, 1976, in Náchod, a region where people are said to be born with skis on their feet. The most important part of his life is his three daughters, Anička, Jůlinka, and Maruška. He is a mountain guide, climber, freerider, designer, UIAGM mountain guide, and a member of ČAHV.
His life is full of movement. Running, mountain biking, cross-country skiing, and alpine skiing form the foundation of his activities. David is fortunate that his passion for climbing and skiing in the mountains has also become his profession. Since 2012, he has been making his clients’ dreams come true as a mountain guide, starting in the Alps.
Although he was born near the sandstone towers of Adršpach, he only started climbing in high school. He began on sandstone towers but soon traveled with friends to the Tatra Mountains, where he first strapped on ski-touring skis for a journey to icy peaks. Today, he cannot imagine winter mountains without them. His first truly high mountain was Khan Tengri in the Tien Shan range.
He graduated from the Faculty of Civil Engineering at CTU and has been running a design studio for years. But thanks to his Mountain Guide course, he can guide clients through mountains and polar regions, fulfilling both their dreams and his own.
He claims to be the only person actively wearing Direct Alpine clothing on all continents (including Antarctica). His go-to piece is the Mistral jacket, which he practically always has with him. When it gets colder, he adds the Alpha Active jacket. For ice climbing, skiing, and winter mountains, the Rebel pants fit him perfectly, keeping him comfortable for most of the season.
What does he say about Direct Alpine? “Above all, I like that it’s a Czech manufacturer whose quality and design can compete with top international brands. Even though these clothes are my daily work ‘uniform,’ which I really wear intensively, I need to feel good in them. And it means a lot to me that the brand also offers repairs for its products.”
