"CITERKA"
Terka was born in 1992 in Prague, where she currently lives. She is our tester for via ferratas and rock climbing, as well as ski touring. Every free moment, she escapes from the city to the mountains. She often heads to the Alps, even just for a weekend, which is her most frequent destination. She combines multi-day treks with mountaineering climbs. According to her, she enjoys heights just a bit more than long distances.
During her school years, Terka was a competitive athlete, which helped her establish a relationship with regular physical activity, understand the value of fair play, and generally direct her life to where she feels content today. Her main hobbies, unsurprisingly, include climbing and ski touring, but also other sports that aren't strictly mountain-related.
She got into regular mountain activities during her university studies, primarily thanks to her greatest buddy, Kuba. From via ferrata and ski touring trips in the Czech Republic, they gradually progressed to technical ridge routes and descents in the Alps. She still enjoys climbing an interesting via ferrata or going ski touring in the Krkonoše mountains. Besides the activities themselves, what she loves most is the environment in which she can enjoy them!
As an elementary school teacher, not-surprisingly specializing in physical education, she stays quite active even at work. She takes advantage of holidays and almost all weekends to travel. Terka also combines teaching with freelance work opportunities, allowing her to work part of the week from almost anywhere with a signal.
She has summited several dozen Alpine peaks over 4,000 meters, and whenever possible, she aims for even higher peaks outside of Europe.
Her favorite areas include Valais, Chamonix, and Hohe Tauern.
Notable treks include: The Gokyo Ri – Three Passes Trek, Markha Valley, GR 54, Haute Route, GR 221, and the Stubai High Trail.
What Terka says about Direct Alpine: "Direct Alpine will always hold a special place for me. Not only because my first proper outdoor pants were from DA (and my second, third, and all subsequent ones too), but also because this modest Czech company from Liberec can compete with global brands through passion, precision, and quality, which I deeply admire. I truly appreciate being part of this outdoor family."
